• You will also get an insight into the everyday life of this Synagogue: members of the community will share stories and memories from their lives-back and now.
• An average meal would not suit this tour, therefore we will take you to a Hungarian home, where you can enjoy a Hungarian meal in the company of your friendly hosts. Jewish flavours are part of the culinary experience!

ITINERARY

At the start you will be picked up at your hotel/ship. As the very first thing, we show you around the (late) jewish district on a half an hour car tour.
Your guide will provide historic information about the district and the sites.
The route comprises sites like the Dohány Street Synagogue, the tree of life, the street of the orthodox community, Király street…
You will also hear about the present day, that is the transformation of this area into the Soho of Budapest.
Next, we drive to a cafe where you are going to meet our jewish friend.
You will hear about the traditions, religion, cuisine, and history of the jews in Hungary, as well as about their current life.
You are more than welcome to ask your questions and discuss your views with our jewish friend. The very unformal meeting takes about 50 minutes and is followed by a visit to a wonderful and lesser known neolog Synagogue. This hidden Synagogue is home to an energetic and active jewish community.

Next, you will be driven to a local home with a comfortable car/minivan. Your hosts are the parents or friends of your guide.
The drive takes between 20-40 minutes, depending on traffic.
Your guide will provide informative and interesting commentary on Budapest and Hungary along the way.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by your host with traditional Hungarian pálinka! (not compulsory to try, just recommended:)) 
For lunch* we will serve you a complete Hungarian meal, along with some good Hungarian wine!

After the hearty lunch and good conversations you will be driven back to your hotel/ship.
